TORONTO-Toronto Pearson is proud to be partnering once again with Scotiabank Caribana. The energy of the festival comes to the airport with live performances to welcome visitors to Toronto.
On Thursday July 22, the St. Jamestown Youth Centre Steel Orchestra performs from 3:30 to 4:30 at International Arrivals, Terminal 1. These talented young players, all still in high school, have dazzled airport guests with performances in 2008 and 2009, and the GTAA is delighted to welcome them back to Toronto Pearson.
The final performance on July 28 features Keith Pascal and the Mas Players. The musicians and costumed dancers will move through the Departures and Arrivals areas of Terminal 3 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
"What better way to welcome our guests off a flight than with a great group of young people playing the sounds of the Caribbean?" said Lee Petrie, Curator for the GTAA. "It's very important to us to support community events and we love that Scotiabank Caribana brings something exciting to the airport and helps highlight the cultural diversity of this great city."
"Caribana Festival has found over the years that if you show people what your product is, they will come!" said Joe Halstead, chairman of the annual Caribana Festival. "Thanks to the GTAA we are helping travelers feel de vibe!"
GraceKennedy, an official sponsor of Scotiabank Caribana specializing in the production of Caribbean food and drinks, will also be on hand in the terminal. They will be sampling plantain chips and tropical juices on the 22nd and banana chips on the 28th. Select Toronto Pearson retailers will be selling GraceKennedy spices and products during the festival, too.
In addition, official Scotiabank Caribana t-shirts will be available for sale on July 28, 29 and 30 at the International Arrivals areas of both Terminals 1 and 3.
Scotiabank Caribana is one of Toronto's Signature Events, with over 1 million people expected to attend. Toronto Pearson is thrilled to bring the event to life at the airport to entertain and delight our guests.
